ROHM DAC For Hi-Fi

Rohm has announced a 32bit mono/stereo Hi-Fi DAC, claiming for it a typical signal to noise ratio of 130dB and -115dB THD+noise.

Called BD34301EKV, it can accept PCIM inputs from 32 to 768kHz and DSD at 2.8, 5.6, 11.2 or 22.4MHz. FIR filters are provided for: PCIM sharp roll-off, PCIM slow roll-off and DSD.

The two outputs each provide differential currents, which can be converted to voltages through a pair of circuits suggested by the company (below left). In mono mode, only one output circuit is used, fed by the DAC outputs connected in parallel to double current.

Three DAC needs three power supplies: 4.5 – 5.5V analogue rail (30mA), 1.4 – 1.6V for the digital core (10-21mA depending on clocking) and 3 – 3.6V for the i-o (10μA with no clocking).

Four device addresses are provided.

It comes in a 12 x 12 x 1mm HTQFP64BV package and operates across -25 to +85°C.

There is an evaluation board, the BD34301EKV-EVK-001, which Digi-key, Mouser and Farnell are carrying.
