Worldwide silicon wafer area shipments increased 2.7% sequentially in Q1 2020, says SEMI.
Silicon wafer area shipments came to 2.92 billion square inches in the first quarter, up from 2.844 billion square inches in the prior quarter, but down 4.3% from the same period in 2019, says SEMI.
“Global silicon wafer shipments rebounded slightly in the first quarter of 2020 after declining for one year,” says SEMI chairman Neil Weaver, “however, with the disruptions caused by the coronavirus, market uncertainty will prevail in the upcoming quarters.”
