Nordic Buys Memfault

Nordic Semiconductor has bought Memfault, the cloud platform connectivity provider, for $120 million giving Nordic a comprehensive hardware/software system for connected products.

The combination is expected to enable continuous software upgrades throughout a product’s lifecycle, strengthened security, better performance, lower power consumption, and higher functionality.

Memfault is a platform provider for device observability and management and secure OTA software updates to ensure device reliability without field returns.

Nordic will integrate Memfault’s capabilities across its complete product portfolio and into its existing nRF Cloud services platform,

As IoT nodes become increasingly intelligent through edge AI, and as security standards evolve under frameworks such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act, the aim is to equip product developers with tools to meet regulatory expectations and competitive demands.
